New Year’s Resolution 2014

2014 Resolution: I will live (and teach) in the moment.

Stage 1: Identify desired results

  1. Relieve pressure to conform to others’ expectations
  2. Feel more grateful
  3. Have more fun

Stage 2: Determine acceptable evidence

I’ll collect evidence in March, June, September, and December.

  • Fewer thoughts and daydreams about others’ expectations of me (1)
  • Greater feeling of enthusiasm for teaching and for everyday social interactions (2)
  • More yeses than no’s, especially to (personal or professional) opportunities to connect with others (2 & 3)
  • No daydreams while in the presence of others (3)

 

Stage 3: Plan learning experiences

  • Seek out and engage in a variety of social activities, especially NYC-specific activities (2 & 3)
  • Take improv class (1 & 2)
  • Identify and channel living in the moment mentors (1, 2, & 3)
  • Do Stefon exercise once a week (1)
  • Harness daydreams for good (1)
    • Turn daydreams into action
    • Daydream about the present
  • Practice and develop habits of mind (1 & 2)
    • Talk faster
    • Remove headphones for one walk a day
    • Ask more questions
